Know the park

City rules.
Our standards.
The same thing.

We don't just comply with Millbrook's official park rules — we lead with them. Every ParkingFido sitter is trained on them. Every session runs inside them. We believe the rules exist for good reasons, and we tell our members exactly what they are.

Official park resources
Read the City of Raleigh's rules directly. We link to the source — never just our interpretation.

3
Maximum 3 dogs per handler
The City of Raleigh states it is "very difficult for one person to effectively control and supervise more than three dogs at once." Our 3-dog limit isn't a policy choice — it's the park's own safety standard, and we enforce it absolutely.
Vaccinations required — verified live
All dogs must be current on Rabies, DA2PP, and Bordetella. ParkingFido verifies this automatically before every session via VetVerifi — pulled directly from your vet's records. No paperwork. No chasing records.
Rabies · DA2PP · Bordetella required
Double-gated entry procedure
All dogs must be unleashed in the enclosed holding pen before entering the run. This prevents off-leash dogs rushing a leashed dog at the gate. Our sitters manage this transition for every dog in their group.
!
Aggressive dogs must leave immediately
If any dog becomes aggressive, the handler must remove it immediately. Our sitters are trained to read escalating behavior before it becomes aggression — and are empowered to end any session early for group safety.
4
Minimum age: 4 months
Dogs must be at least 4 months old to use City of Raleigh dog parks. This aligns with standard vaccination schedules. Puppies younger than this are not eligible for ParkingFido sessions.
City of Raleigh Parks policy
Continuous supervision required
Handlers are responsible for their dogs at all times. Our sitters carry that responsibility with full attention — no phones during sessions, no distractions. Eyes on the dogs. Always.

The blog

Rule of the week.

Every week we take one Millbrook park rule, explain why it exists, and share how our sitters apply it in practice. Because an informed community is a safer one.

Rule of the week · May 12–18, 2026 Week 20
Rule
"No more than three dogs per handler, at any time."
This is the rule we get asked about most — and understandably so. If you've been to Millbrook on a busy Saturday you've seen people managing four or five dogs without incident. So why does the number matter?
"It is very difficult for one person to effectively control and supervise more than three dogs at once. If you have more than three dogs and wish to use our dog parks, we recommend that you bring a friend or family member to assist." — City of Raleigh Parks, official dog park rules
The critical word is supervise. Managing four dogs on a leash in your driveway is a coordination problem. Managing four dogs in an off-leash park with twenty others, bicycles near the gate, and a toddler walking by is a situational awareness problem of a completely different order. The moment a conflict starts between two dogs, you cannot simultaneously de-escalate and maintain visual contact with the others. Something gives.
How our stable of sitters applies this: Every session in the ParkingFido app is hard-capped at 3 dogs. A fourth dog cannot be added — even by an administrator. If a fourth dog arrives at drop-off, the sitter contacts the Ops Line immediately and does not accept the dog. No exceptions, ever.

Our stable

Not just dog lovers.
Credentialed handlers.

Every ParkingFido sitter is drawn from a carefully maintained stable of credentialed handlers — pre-vet students and veterinary technician students from NCSU and partner institutions who bring genuine clinical instinct to every session.

They're not doing this between shifts. This is professional development. Your dog is in the hands of someone who is on their way to becoming a veterinarian — and these hours count toward their DVM application requirements.

SPCA of Wake County handler certification
Required for all sitters. Force-free, positive-reinforcement methodology. Renewed annually.
Background check — cleared
Every sitter passes a background check before their first session. Renewed annually.
Intro video — reviewed & approved
Every sitter records an intro video. Visible to members after booking. No anonymous handlers.
NCSU / partner institution enrollment verified
Pre-vet or vet tech enrollment confirmed each semester.
